About Flowers 2019 Chardonnay, Sonoma Coast
In 1989, Walt and Joan Flowers purchased 321 acres, including a ridge top, high above the Pacific Ocean on the northern Sonoma Coast. Today, Flowers Winery produces outstanding Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from its two estate properties, Camp Meeting Ridge Vineyard and Sea View Ridge Vineyard, as well as select vineyards in the coolest regions of the Sonoma Coast AVA. For this 2019 Chardonnay grapes were sourced from family-owned vineyards as well as their estate vineyard, Camp Meeting Ridge. The wine was fermented on 100% native yeasts and hthe wine aged 3 months on the lees in stainless steel tanks and 11 months in 18% new French oak barrels.
James Suckling scored this 95 points saying "A lovely nose of lemon curd, baked green apple and a bit of pine. Medium-bodied with a delightful, smooth texture. Very elegant and refined. Well balanced and linear with a savory finish. Charming. Drink now or hold."
Jeb Dunnuck scored this 94 points saying "I love the Chardonnay from this estate, and their appellation 2019 Chardonnay Sonoma Coast is well worth seeking out, revealing a lighter gold hue as well as a crisp, nicely defined bouquet of poached pear, citrus, spice, and hazelnuts. Beautiful on the palate as well, it's medium-bodied and has nicely integrated acidity, notable balance, and a great finish."
