A former Wine Enthusiast Magazine #1 Wine of the Year in 2011, this 2018 shows the remarkable consistency that this estate is known for. Marchesi Frescobaldi is one of Italy's most historic wine producers, dating to the 1300s. It is also one of the most significant producers in Italy, with nine different estates—and roughly 2,500 acres—in Tuscany. <br><br>The Nipozzano Estate where this Chianti Rufina is made, is an outstanding property has a unique terroir that consistently turns out exceptional, high-scoring wines. This Riserva is Sangiovese with complementary grapes, Malvasia Nera, Colorino, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon aged 24 months in French oak barrels.
Winemaker Notes
Nipozzano 2020 is ruby red of medium intensity, very clear. On the nose, it begins with intense fruity scents of wild berries and cherries, followed by clear floral notes of violet. Fresh and balsamic, it has pleasant spicy undertones of pepper, nutmeg and roasted Arabicacoffee. In the mouth, it is satisfying, harmonious, fresh, fruity and mineral, with a dense and silky tannic texture. With its remarkable taste olfactory correspondence, Nipozzano always dazzles with its extraordinary pleasantness that appeals to the taste buds of a vast and diverse range of consumers. The finish is pleasantly persistent and balanced in its various components.
