Beginning in the late 1970s, Gary Farrell was working with seminal Russian River Valley vintners such as Davis Bynum, Joe Rochioli, Tom Dehlinger and Robert Stemmler. He made his first wine under the Gary Farrell label in 1982 and built the winery into one of the most acclaimed producers of small-lot Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays in the Russian River Valley. This latest release Chard is true to form. Sourced from several prime vineyards around the Russian River Valley AVA, including Westside Farms, Bacigalupi Vineyard, Olivet Lane Vineyard, Rochioli Vineyard, Allen Vineyard and Martinelli Vineyard. The wine was aged 9 months in 30-40% new French oak. Wine Enthusiast Magazine scored this 95 points saying "A scent of French butter offers an immediate invitation to this excellent wine. Austerity on the palate gives way to a juicy core of invigorating tangerine and white peach flavors. The gravelly minerality on the midpalate finishes softly and with ease."
