San Matteo Gavi is estate grown and bottled with all production phases from viticulture to vinification in all taking place on the estate. The brain child of Massimo Diotti, who in 1999 founded the property with the goal of creating wine that was a pure expression of the Cortese grape and the terrior of Gavi. San Matteo's 25 acres of vineyards are located in San Cristoforo, one of the designated zones for Gavi DOCG production, but about half of San Matteo's acreage is located within the Gavi commune itself, widely considered to be the best terroir for Gavi. Cold fermented in stainless steel. The nose shows aromas of jasmine flowers, white peaches and minerals. Dry with crisp acidity, the palate is flinty with layers of fruit and textured creaminess; beautifully balanced. Hints of peach, pear and flowers wrap around the generous finish. Classic Gavi at an amazing price!
