In July 2016, Barolo producer Giovanni Rosso's son Davide purchased an old vineyard on the Northern slope of Mount Etna in Sicily and, began to vinify small lots of indigenous varietals. This wine is a blend of 85% Carricante, 15% other white indigenous grapes from the organically farmed bush vines in his vineyard. Fermentation was in stainless steel tanks for 18 days and the wine aged “sur lie” for 5 months in stainless steel tanks and then 3 months in the bottle before the release.
The 2017 was a Wine Enthusiast Top 100 selection with a 94 point score. No score yet for this 2018 but it shows the same beautiful array of fruit flavors and tangy acidity tinged with minerality.
