    About Grand Napa 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon, Rutherford, Napa Valley

    An exciting find, Grand Napa Vineyards is located in the heart of Rutherford, near the foot of Mt. St. John in the Mayacamas mountain range. Their mission is to create outstanding wines from Napa Valley. They grow Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc and implement artisan techniques to produce distinctive wines, each with unique character and texture. Winemaker, Dwight Bonewell, sources the fruit from the best vineyards in Napa Valley, including some of its other most prestigious sub-appellations––Diamond Mountain, Mt. Veeder, Spring Mountain, Oakville, Atlas Peak and for this wine from their home base; the Rutherford Bench. As André Tchelistcheff, the master winemaker who shepherded California into its brilliant new era said about Rutherford; “It takes Rutherford dust to grow great Cabernet.”
     
    This 2016 Rutherford Cab is blend of 95% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc aged in new oak barrels. The Wine Advocate scored this 94+ and said "Deep garnet-black in color, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Rutherford has a nose of cassis, violets, cedar and camphor with chocolate and aniseed in the background. Medium to full-bodied and grainy, it is earthy in the mouth, finishing long and mineral laced."
