Antinori's Guado al Tasso Estate is famous for its bold Super Tuscan reds. The property is located near the medieval hamlet of Bolgheri on the Tuscan Maremma coast. The vineyard is at an elevation of 145 to 190 feet above sea level on stony, slightly calcareous soils on hills in the heart of the Bolgheri amphitheater.
This is an ideal microclimate for the Vermentino grape. Vineyard plots were harvested separately in successive passes to highlight the range of diverse characteristics found in each block. Grapes were de-stemmed, lightly pressed and cooled to allow for natural separation of the juice from the skins. The resulting juice was racked into temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks for fermentation. The wine was stored in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks for a short time until bottling to preserve the lovely fragrance. The wine is elegant and rich with pleasant floral and citrus notes; fruit-driven, fresh and crisp, with a lingering minerality and a bright finish.
