About Haras De Pirque 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Gran Reserva, Hussonet, Maipo Valley

Haras de Pirque is a union of two passions in a unique place where thoroughbred horse breeding and fine wine making come together. In Pirque, Chile in the foothills of the Andes they planted 290 acres of vineyards in 1992, mainly Cabernet Sauvignon and Carmnre. They produce outstanding wines and name them for their famous racehorses like this Hussonet Gran Reserva Cab. Owned by the famed Antinori Family of Tuscany their winemaking team led by Renzo Cotarella is in charge of the whole process. Grapes were hand-picked end of April. The special parcels selected for Hussonet undergo careful hand management throughout the year to produce grapes of very high quality. This 2014 is 87% Cabernet Sauvignon and 13% Syrah, the lots are vinified separately and the wine is aged 12 months in French oak barrels. It is bottled unfined and unfiltered.

James Suckling scored this 90 points and said "Plenty of sweet black fruits and some real richness on the front palate. An easy wine to drink now. With more complexity and energy this would rate higher. "
