Heitz Vineyards has a well-earned reputation for producing high quality, distinctive Napa Valley wines, particularly Cabernets. The style is always full-bodied, well-extracted with immense structure. One of the unique aspects to their production is the length of time that they age their Cabs before release. This Cab is barrel aged 4 years in the cellar aging in French oak vessels both old and new. This allows the tannins to soften and the flavors to coalesce, resulting in a wine that shows its full expression on release.
This is their latest release 2015, another outstanding vintage for Napa Cab. This 100% Cabernet Sauvignon sourced from two of their estate vineyards, all certified organic, brings rich, intense flavors and a beautiful structure that promises to keep this killer Cab going for many years to come.
Wine Enthusiast Magazine awarded this an Editors' Choice and scored it 95 points saying "Woody, herbal and elegantly structured, this wine is high-toned and freshly layered in bold red fruit. Given time in the barrel and the bottle, it shows its graceful edges and nuanced elegance with ease, finishing in dusty crushed rock. It vastly overdelivers on its price point."
