About Hoopes 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon, Oakville, Napa Valley
Hoopes wines are classic Cabs that capture the pure relationship between grape-grower and winemaker with an old-world-meets-new-world style profile. The philosophy is simple: minimize after-harvest manipulation of the grape so that you can enjoy the most important ingredient in its true form. Winemaker Anne Vawter worked as Assistant Winemaker to Heidi Barrett for four years and so has exceptional experience producing first rate Napa Cabs. About working for Hoopes Anne says. I love working with the fruit from Oakville. Its my viticultural solar plexus. I have made wine up and down the Napa Valley, but no other appellation is as exciting to me as Oakville. The 10 acres Hoopes estate vineyard is in the southern-most part of Oakville with good exposure. Planted in 1983, the vines are mature with deep roots. This 2013 is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon aged 22 months in 71% new French oak barrels. Decanter Magazine scored this 95 points and said "Anne Vawter has been winemaker since 2012. Vawters concentrated but balanced style was shaped by four years tutelage from Heidi Peterson Barrett at Paradigm Winery.Deliciously intense nose and palate full of violets and blackcurrant pastilles. This wine has generous body and alcohol but is holding in a ripe Napa style that will certainly see out the next few years." Very Limited!
