It's hard to imagine winemakers who are more prolific and successful at turning out absolutely stunning value wines than the Indelicatos. As kids, brothers Jay and Chris Indelicato spent hot, dusty days helping their grandfather in the vineyards and growing up around grapes and winemaking 24/7. Now they are experienced vintners with access to a wide swath of quality fruit. For Irony Small Lot Reserve, they're pulling together individual lots of Pinot Noir from theb sub-appellations in Monterey including Santa Lucia, San Bernbe and Arroyo Seco, providing a spectrum of characteristics and flavors. Each lot is vinified separately and aged three months in French and American oak barrels. All lots are tasted blind and the most exceptional are chosen for the final blend. The 2014 received a Platinum Medal and a score of 95 points in the Critics Challenge Wine Competition and in the San Diego Wine Competition. This 2015 show the same expression and bold style. Brown spices and red berries lead the way with supple tannins and lively acidity delivering the strawberry, cherry and rhubarb fruit components in a mouthwatering blast followed more clove and cinnamon spice. Mouthfilling and Ripe.
