    About Katherine Goldschmidt 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon, Crazy Creek, Alexander Valley

    Named for his daughter, whom he worked with to make the wine and from a vineyard that Nick Goldschmidt has been farming since 1989. This Alexander Valley vineyard is a unique plot growing old vine Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. In 2017, another outstanding vintage in Alexander Valley, it brought low-yield Cabernet grapes with intense flavor and ideal balance. 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, the wine was aged 12 months in 20% new oak, a combination of French, American and Hungarian. This wine has nicely focused red cherry and red raspberry aromas. Loaded with red berry fruit flavors with a touch of caramel, dark chocolate, and toasty oak. Full and well-structured from the long hang time. The texture is smooth and the mouth medium bodied. White pepper and spice in the finish with long and supple tannins. Drink now or over the next 10 years.
