About Katherine Goldschmidt 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon, Stonemason Hill, Alexander Valley
The latest release of this very popular Cabernet by Nick Goldschmidt and his middle daughter Katherine, continues this close family tradition. Sourced from The Stonemason Hill Vineyard in Alexander Valley, this is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon.
The 2018 growing season brought near-perfect fruit set which led to large grape clusters. Summer temperatures were moderate with few heat spikes leading to an extended season and long hang time for the grapes, enabling them to take on lush, complex flavors.
Grapes were all hand harvested and the wine aged for 12 months in 20% new barrels. They were 90% French and 10% American with a medium toast.
Tasting Panel Magazine scored this 92 points saying "Showing rich berries and plum, it’s smooth and spicy, with depth and complexity. A great value."
