About Keever Vineyards and Winery Cabernet Sauvignon 2018
Keever Vineyards is a small family owned and operated winery in Yountville, in the Napa Valley. And when we say family owned and operated, we mean it. On any given day there are between two and four Keevers on site. During fruit processing we get aunts and uncles in too. Bill Keever (Dad) still drags barrels out of the cave, works with our vineyard manager, and drives the forklift. Mom, Olga Keever, runs the office, works with distributors, and ensures all our compliance obligations are met. She does tours and tastings to boot.
Their daughter Ashley is Hospitality Manager and puts the fun into their tours and tastings while their son, Jason, specializes in production. Winemaker Celia Welch calls the shots, and Jason makes sure everything gets done in a manner that ensures the highest quality and that no details, however small, are overlooked.
Oh yeah, it is THAT Celia Welch! The one and only who produces Scarecrow! She has also been winemaker at Staglin, Silverado, Robert Pepi and more AND was a Winemaker of the Year Winner from Food and Wine. So with Celia at the helm, you know this Cab is nothing short of phenomenal!
Her Winemaker notes on this stunning Cab:
The purity of dark red and blue fruits provides an immediate sense of the complexity of this fully ripe Cabernet Sauvignon. Notes of raspberry jam and blackberry briars round out the initial impression. On the palate the wine is full, plush and round at entry, with the focused fruit aromas dominating the mid-palate.
Jeb Dunnick LOVED this Cab and gave it 95 points raving 'I also loved the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon, which brings another level of purity and class, offering gorgeous crème de cassis, lead pencil shavings, white flowers, tobacco leaf, vanilla bean, and damp earth-like aromas and flavors. Pure, clean, full-bodied, and just a classy, flawlessly balanced beauty, it has fine tannins, the freshness of the vintage, and a great finish. Enjoy bottles over the coming 15-20 years.'
