About La Chartreuse De Croizet Bages 2010 Pauillac

An amazing find!! Standing on the Plateau de Bages is the vineyard of Château Croizet-Bages, a Pauillac 5th Grand Cru Classé. It is said that just beyond the vines planted on this majestic terroir, a charterhouse or "chartreuse" used to stand. Hence the name of this second label wine of the Cru Classe estate. Owners Jean-Philippe and Anne-Françoise Quie expertly craft the La Chartreuse de Croizet-Bages as a wine worthy of its elder sibling. From vines averaging 35 years of age it's a blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 38% Merlot and 12% Cabernet Franc aged 12 months in French oak barrels. Generous, fruity and charming, the 2010 vintage of  "La Chartreuse de Croizet-Bages" perfectly embodies the grand style of the great Pauillac wines. Its deep color, backed up by notes of violet and blackberry, suggests a moment of intense sensuality. Its prestigious terroir lends it refinement and balance. The vintage was legendary in Bordeaux and this wine has aged gracefully to a silky fineness that is rare indeed. Don't miss it!
