La Scolca 2019 Gavi Dei Gavi Black Label

The most iconic white wine from Italy's Piedmont region is without a doubt this prestigious Gavi dei Gavi La Scolca Black Label. The Gavi wine made from the Cortese grape was actually invented at La Scolca in the 1950s. It has since become a classic.

The estate manages an area of about 125 acres of vineyards. All the vineyards are in the best sites of Rovereto di Gavi receiving cooling sea air and full sunlight exposure from sunrise to sunset. The Black Label bottling is produced with the utmost care, from pruning to harvesting, with a strict and rigorous selection from low yielding vines averaging 60 years of age.Fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks the wine ages on the lees for additional richness.

Tasting Panel Magazine scored this 95 points saying "This is the Gavi that sets the standard for all others. Thyme and pine nut lead on both the nose and palate, and on the latter, green apple sharpens the senses with a burst of lime zest, orange blossom, and keen minerality."
