About Les Cailloux 2019 Sauvignon Blanc, Bordeaux White
Les Cailloux, 'the stones' in English, are present in many top Bordeaux vineyards. Carried along by the Garonne River, these stones or gravel favor a better drainage and force the vines deep into the soil to find their nutrients. Forced to search for resources, the plant will regulate fruit production resulting in berries with concentration of fruit and aromas; an essential requirement to produce refined and full bodied Bordeaux wines.
Les Cailloux Blanc is a negociant wine blended from various sources and speaking of gravel, we have it on good authority that the sources may include some barrels from a top tier white Graves producer. You would certainly guess that by tasting it. This wine is rich with tropical fruit notes, oak spice and vibrant acidity. It seems to be oozing class with every sip. An absolute STEAL!!
