About Louis Jadot 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin, hlf btl, 375ml
Jadot Gevrey Chambertin wines are produced from vineyards lying on the extension of the slope on which the Grands and Premiers Crus are situated. These vineyards vary considerable in quality, and the name of the producer is thus more important here than elsewhere. Maison Louis Jadot vinifies the production of growers with whom it holds purchase agreements based on the quality of the harvest each year.
Fermentation and maceration lasts 3-4 weeks and the wine is aged 18 months in Oak barrels.
Burghound.com sampled from the barrel and scored this 88-91 saying "An earthier and much more sauvage-suffused nose offers up notes of both red and dark pinot fruit that is trimmed in underbrush wisps. There is fine verve to the delicious middle weight flavors that offer an appealing texture while the lingering finish is moderately austere but not really rustic. This should repay 6 to perhaps 10-ish years of bottle aging."
