Luiano 2015 Chianti Classico Riserva

Luiano in the hills of the Chianti Classico zone, has been a wine producing location since the ninth century. In the late middle ages this landmark was chosen by a noble family, allied with the Medici, to build a beautiful villa and farm. Over the years Luiano has belonged to several of the most renown families of Florence including the Mellini Borromei and the Strozzi. In 1959 Alberto Palombo became the owner of Luiano and carry on its long lasting tradition of vine growing and wine making. Today the third generation of the Palombo family is running the winery with passion and focus on producing outstanding wines with a modern, state-of-the-art facility.

This Riserva "Gold" as they call it, is 100% Sangiovese aged in oak casks for 18 months. The Wine Spectator scored this 95 points saying "A fresh, detailed style, exhibiting cherry, black currant, licorice, leather and iron aromas and flavors. This firms up as the latent structure emerges on the finish, yet the lasting impression is of equilibrium and sweet, ripe fruit. Best from 2020 through 2038."
