About Mazzei 2018 Siepi, Toscana IGT
The Siepi Vineyard in the Chianti Classico zone, has been owned by the Mazzei family since the 15th Century. Today it is managed with the utmost care and focus on growing superb Tuscan grapes. The unique location and special microclimate are ideal for the Merlot that was planted in the 1980's to complement Sangiovese. Together they produce a wine which is perfectly balanced between elegance, power and complexity.
Grapes are hand picked starting from August 12th (50% Merlot) and September 22nd (50% Sangiovese.) The wine ages 18 months in small french oak barrels (70% new).
Crispy notes of elder, plum, berries, sandalwood, tobacco, with a very long, bright finish.
