About Meeker 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon, Kiss Ridge, Diamond Mtn., Napa Valley
Here's a rare gem. 2004 was a stellar vintage in Napa Valley rated 95 points overall, and this Cab is from a single vineyard in one of Napa's most exclusive sub regions. The Vineyard sits on the high slopes of Diamond Mountain at an elevation of 1285 feet, about 1,100 feet above the valley floor. Some of the most sought after Napa Valley wines are those that come from the Diamond Mountain appellation. The winemaker, Matt Blankenheim, describes the vineyard as “a winemaker’s dream”. At its elevation, the vineyard is blessed with gravelly loam soil, 20% slopes, full sun exposure, hot days, cool nights, and a perfect breeze that blows through the vines keeping the loose clusters of grapes free from holding the morning dew.
This wine is 95% Cabernet Sauvignon, 2% Cabernet Franc, 2% Merlot and 1% Petit Verdot aged in 88% French and 12% Hungarian, mixed new and one-year old oak barrels. Additional years of bottles aged have created a velvet like texture and layers of complex flavors. Very Limited!
