About Modus 2018 Toscana Ruffino IGT
The grapes for Modus are sourced from Ruffino's Poggio Casciano estate and other selected vineyards. The three grape varieties that comprise its blend -34% Sangiovese, 33% Cabernet Sauvignon, 33% Merlot - are aged separately in small French and American oak casks for approximately 12 months before they are blended and bottled.
Winemaker Notes
Intense and intriguing on the nose, initial aromas of mature red and black fruits, such as cherries, plums, and small black berries, typical of Sangiovese, are complemented by hints of spices, sweet tobacco, and refined balsamic notes.
Full bodied with a modern Super Tuscan style, this wine is rich with silky tannins and flavors of mature blackberry fruit and cocoa. Vibrant fresh fruit flavors from the Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot weave together with finesse, each adding its own distinctive character.

A ripe, opulent style, this red is saturated with black cherry, plum, cedar and spice flavors, yet remains fluid and lithe on the palate. Quickly gives way to tannins with the feel of bitter chocolate, with the fruit and floral notes enduring. Sangiovese, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon.
