Considered one of the most able practitioners in the cellar, winemaker Aurelio Montes has always maintained that "80% of good wine comes from the vineyards and on 20% from the cellar." So vineyard care is paramount, enabling Montes to produce world-class wines. From the vineyard rows to the cellar, they carefully study every variable in the winemaking process. This Cab is sourced from their meticulously cared-for vineyards high in the foothills of the Andes Mountains where the Cabernet grapes benefit from the cool temperatures and the brilliant sunlight. The grapes are brought into their gravity-flow winery that allows gentle handling. 15% Merlot is blended in and the wine is aged in French oak barrels for 8 months. The Wine Spectator selected the 2014 as one of their Top 100 Wines of 2016. This 2016 scored 91 points from James Suckling who said "A pretty cabernet with currants and dark chocolate. Medium body, silky and fresh finish. Drink-me cabernet. Enjoy now."
