About Morgon 2015 Jean-Ernest Descombes, Georges Duboeuf

The best one word description you can give to this wine is, "consistent". Since the early 1990's Parker has scored it between 88 and 91 points every year. Grapes are 100% old vine Gamay, sourced from the vineyard at the Descombes estate. The wine is also produced and bottled on site, in the Cru Beaujolais village of Morgon. Georges DuBouef's team imparts their expertise and insures that the quality is superior while the price remains incredibly affordable. The Wine Advocate tasting from barrel scored this 89-91 and said "The 2015 Morgon Jean Descombes felt a little reduced on the nose, although there are attractive wild strawberry and raspberry preserve scents waiting to unfold. The palate is medium-bodied, fleshy and plum with red cherries, strawberry and a touch of orange rind. Nicely focused with a keen thread of acidity towards the finish maintaining freshness, this should turn out to be a very fine Morgon with 12-18 months in bottle." and James Suckling scored it 93 points saying "Beautifully perfumed with rose petals and lilacs. Stone undertones. Medium to full body, silky and polished tannins and a very pretty gunflint and blueberry aftertaste. Drink or hold." On Sale!!
