Started by Rombauer back in the 80's Napa Cellars is now owned by the Trinchero Family Estate. As a result they are able to source premium Napa fruit from their almost 300 acres of estate vineyards in Napa Valley. That's really what makes this wine stand out and why it's so good. It's not just another Napa Cab but it's a Napa Cab with pedigree, quality and consistency, all at amazing value. The excellent 2017 vintage brought beautifully ripe, complex grapes throughout Napa Valley. Grapes were carefully selected from prime vineyards in some of Napa Valley’s best regions, including Atlas Peak, St. Helena, Oak Knoll and Rutherford.
The grapes were hand-harvested in the cool morning hours to ensure optimal flavor. At the winery, the fruit was hand-sorted, gently de-stemmed and lightly crushed. Following a 13 to 20-day maceration period to maximize color and flavor extraction and to also polish the tannins, the wine was aged in 100% French oak barrels (36% new) for 20 months.
James Suckling scored this 90 points saying "A red with pleasant berries, orange peel and hints of hazelnuts. Medium body. Soft, silky tannins. Medium finish. Drink now."
Wine Enthusiast Magazine scored this 90 points saying "Red currant and dark cherry highlight a moderately structured, medium-bodied palate. It offers plenty of likable approachability with its soft, rounded richness."
