This Cab is from the C.C. Ranch in Rutherford, planted along the slope of a knoll west of the Silverado Trail. The vineyard grows classic Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon on well-drained, gravelly loam soil. The vines are well balanced and the canopy is opened up to give good light exposure. Nickel & Nickel produces wine from 15 select acres of this 115-acre vineyard.

The Wine Advocate scored this 94 points saying "The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon C.C. Ranch is made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon and was aged in French oak, 48% new, for 18 months. With a deep garnet-purple color, it comes skipping out of the glass with bright, cheery scents of ripe black cherries, mulberries and crushed black currants with suggestions of chocolate box, menthol, lavender and plum preserves. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is completely coated with crunchy blackberry layers, supported by fine-grained tannins and a lively backbone, finishing long and fragrant."
International Wine Report scored this 94 points saying "The 2018 C.C. Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon from Nickel and Nickel immediately impresses, as it bursts open to stunning aromas of blueberries, ripe blackberries and dark currants, which are woven together with loam, crushed gravel, violets, graphite and spices. The palate is full-bodied plush and supple, with wonderful freshness and layers of delicious ripe dark and red fruits that combine lovely spice notes which continue to resonate through the plush finish. The 2018 drinking beautifully at this early going, however it also has the potential to age gracefully for years to come."
Wine Enthusiast Magazine scored this 93 points saying "The toasted oak adds a note of salt to the dusty, gravelly texture of this 100% varietal wine, tight and youthful in tannin and weight. As it unwinds in the glass it reveals a structured plushness of rich black cherry, cassis and currant."
