Pahlmeyer's Napa Valley Chardonnay is an iconic wine. It was a Wine Spectator Top 10 wine of the year in 2016. For this 2017 grapes were sourced from the Pahlmeyer Estate, Hyde Vineyard and the Antica vineyard. 100% barrel fermented in French oak with native yeasts. The wine aged 11 months in 100% new Francois Freres French oak, for another 11 months. As always it was bottled unfined and unfiltered.
Jeb Dunnuck scored this 96 points saying "Bottled in August, the 2017 Chardonnay Napa Valley offers Aubert-like notes of white flowers, white peach, tangerine, flower oil, and white flowers. It's rich, layered, so pure and balanced, and is just a class act as well as one of the top Chardonnays in this report."
Wine Spectator scored this 95 points saying "Unctuous, featuring succulent flavors of pear tart, dried tropical fruits, quince jelly and apple pastry, loaded with cream and spice details. The long finish is filled with light buttery accents and hints of hazelnut. Drink now through 2025."
