About Patz & Hall 2018 Pinot Noir, Sonoma Coast
To craft Patz & Hall Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir, they source grapes from a selection of California’s most renowned wine-growing families. The Dutton family provides them with fruit from several of their small vineyard sites. Gap’s Crown Vineyard, Charlie Chenoweth, Mark Sanchietti, Lee Martinelli and Steve Hill also contribute superb quality fruit to this complex blend of vineyard sites and clones. In addition, to achieve their goal of producing a Pinot Noir that embodies the depth, structure and vibrant fruit flavors of the Sonoma Coast, they continually seek out new, single-vineyard-caliber Pinot Noir sites to add to this delicious cuvée.
In 2018, eighteen small, independent family-owned vineyard sites were sourced for this gorgeous display of Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir. Fermentation is with native yeast, followed by cultured yeast and 10% whole clusters are added. The wine aged in Burgundian French oak barrels, 45% new.
Wine Enthusiast Magazine scored this 93 points saying "This is a great representation of coastal intensity and freshness, built around a spicy, full-bodied core of dark-berry fruit, crushed rock and dried herb. Forest and tea accents underscore its wild appeal and provenance." On Sale!!
