    About Piper Rare 2006 Vintage Brut Champagne, Piper Heidsieck, Magnum 1.5L

    Produced only in the most exceptional vintages this 2006 Rare is a blend of 8 crus including Oger, Villers-Marmery and Avize for Chardonnay and Verzy for the Pinot Noirs, matured over 8 years in the Heidsieck cellars. Bearing witness to a sun-filled year, Rare Millésime 2006 glows  with  an  iridescent  yellow-green  gold. 70% Chardonnay - 30% Pinot Noir.

    This has received top awards and rave reviews across including Wine Spectator who scored this 96 points saying "Aromas and flavors of toasted brioche and grilled nut enrich the yellow plum, nectarine and grated ginger notes of this rich and creamy Champagne. Finely woven and beautifully integrated, with a firm backbone of mouthwatering acidity providing precise balance for the lush range of flavor. Drink now through 2029."

    Awarded Platinum- Best In Show with a score of 97 points in the Decanter Asia Wine Awards Competition. They said "Age pays dividends in Champagne, and this thirteen-year-old is just slipping into the comely grace and affability which the years bring to blends based on top-quality raw materials. Chardonnay is dominant here (70%) with the balance coming from Pinot Noir alone. Pale saffron gold in colour with a fine, sustained mousse, the wine combines enticing scents of dried fruits and orange peel with a back note of walnut butter. The palate is now open, supple, round-contoured and complete, the acidity time-mellowed, the notes of ground stone, white peach and dark nuts harmonious and mellow, subsiding gently in the mouth. Unintimidating but quietly grand."

    Just awarded a "Best in Show" Platinum Medal and 97 points in the Decanter World Wine Awards. They said "With fourteen years' ageing under its belt, this Champagne has had time to gather and marshal all its resources - which it does with great style and assurance. It's a pale, glowing lemon yellow, with a fine mousse and ample wealth of billowing vanilla, cream and plump hazels. The palate has dramatic intensity and drive, delivering a wealth of chalky lemon; its athleticism and vigor almost come as a surprise after that floating veil of seductive scent. A fresh, mouth-cleansing finish completes the appeal of this skillful, sagely judged blend from a hugely likeable vintage."
