About Ployez-Jacquemart NV Extra Quality Brut Champagne

Ployez-Jacquemart is a family House created in 1930 by Marcel Ployez and his wife Yvonne Jacquemart. The whole essence of Ployez-Jacquemart rests in our continual search for excellence, our understanding of the Champagne terroir and our abilities to craft truly fine wines. These skills have been passed down through three generations.

Their predominantly Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier vineyards are located in the Premier and Grands Crus villages of Ludes and Mailly Champagne, Villedommange, and Vertus. Tremendous care is taken in working these vines by hand. Strict rules are followed each year to ensure that the very best is made of each harvest. They use a blend of grapes from their own Grands Crus vineyards, and produce from a handful of carefully selected wine growers, many of whom they have been working with for 30 years. All the grapes are hand-picked and sorted by variety, cru and specific vineyard – this forms the basis for the pressing at the estate. No expense is spared; only the best juice from the first pressing is considered of sufficient quality for our use. Laurence Ployez’ s meticulous attention to every detail is evident at every stage of the process. Grape musts are left to settle not once but twice before fermentation. The wine is moved frequently from one vat to another to ensure a high level of oxygenation; only light filtration is used for wines produced in vats but none at all for those vinified or aged in wooden barrels or foudres.

Extra-Quality Brut is a blend of 1er & Grand Crus vines with a majority of Pinot Noir and Meunier from Mailly and Ludes, as well as Chardonnays from Bisseuil, Cuis, Ludes, Puisieulx, Taissy, Grauve or Vertus. The black grapes bring a great richness, complexity and roundness to the Champagne. Only the pure cuvée (first press) is used for the elaboration of this wine and the low sugar dosage also allows all the aromas to be fully expressed. It can be enjoyed after a minimum of 4 years of ageing in the Domaine’s cellars.

Extra-Quality Brut has an elegant mousse and a beautiful golden colour. The nose is ripe and tends towards honeyed notes. The palate is rich and reveals a good length. The Extra-Quality Brut has a very good balance and freshness, with a very clean nose and mouth, it is a perfect champagne to accompany aperitifs and cocktails.
