Madame Pommery, who wants to produce a different wine, decides to relocate to a different place which combines the optimal conditions for production. In July 1868 she launches the “construction site of the century” in Reims: the metamorphosis of the crayères chalkpits into cellars.
This cuvée has been crafted from a meticulous selection of chardonnay grapes that provide good vivacity and a rich complexity. Indispensable to any great cuvée, Chardonnay is a precious grape variety for champagne that knows exactly how to offer Pommery champagnes delicacy, elegance and freshness.
95 Points Decanter
Really lush in style, with a very potent and toasty nose that unfolds leesy complexity, accompanied by aromas of white flowers and white apple. The palate is doughy, with expansive autolytic notes, persistent and concentrated. Great depth and balance, with a long, dry, spicy finish.
93 Points James Suckling
Brimming with white flowers and fresh ripe pear. So bright and energetic with a wonderful creaminess that beautifully balances the chalkiness and delicate touch of savory. Just a hint of lemon peel bitterness that neatly accentuates the freshness at the long dry finish. Based on the 2018 vintage, much of it from the Montagne de Reims with 20% of reserve wines. The first vintage of this wine that's also bottled in magnum. Drink or hold.
