About Post House Road 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon, Proprietary Reserve, Alexander Valley

It’s widely recognized that Alexander Valley turns out some of the best and most enjoyable Cabernets in all of California. As the 2018’s have started to roll out it seems pretty clear that these are wines everyone is going to love. With a such an embarrassment of riches how do decide which wine to settle on? Well we’ve got one here that we think takes the prize. This Proprietary Reserve 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from Post House Road Cellars that hits all the right notes. Grapes were carefully selected from specific hillside vineyard blocks that offered the idea exposure. Each lot was fermented separately and then selected once again to go into the Reserve blend. The wine aged 12 months in French oak barrels and shows impeccable balance (just 13.9% alcohol) with bright berry and cherry notes on a smooth tannic frame, lifted by bright acidity. Advanced Sommelier Martin Sheehan-Stross, scored this wine 94 points saying “There is a wildness about this wine that instantly says Alexander Valley to me. The crushed blackberry and blackcurrant notes speak to a wine that is filled with dark fruit, while the menthol and cedar tones are indicative of the slightly cooler climate from which this wine hails. The chewy tannin are ripe and balanced, meaning this wine is already approachable. Still, I would recommend stocking up with a few extra bottles for the cellar.” Finally, what really puts this wine over the edge is the exceedingly attractive price that we are able to offer it at, deeply discounted from its regular retail. This was a limited production reserve so don’t hesitate or you might miss out on this beautiful drinking experience.
