Tenuta Renieri comprises just over 300 acres right in the Brunello di Montalcino zone, on slopes that face Monte Amiata. The single Regina Vineyard, where the grapes for this wine are sourced is just 7 acres at high elevation and it's planted with Syrah which responds incredibly well to the volcanic soils and warm microclimate. Proprietor Marco Bacci crafts only 2500 cases of this 100% Syrah aged 18 months in French oak barrels. This wine scored 93 from the Wine Spectator who said "This is pure, delivering black cherry, blackberry, spice and mineral notes, showing beautiful harmony and structure. Offers a long, tobacco-, herb- and mineral-tinged finish. Syrah. Drink now through 2023." and James Suckling scored it 94 saying "This is a luxurious red with dark berry, plum and peach aromas and flavors. Full body, velvety tannins and a long and flavorful finish. Juicy and savory. Always a top Super Tuscan from Montalcino. Better in 2016 but so delicious now."
