Super Limted 97 Pt Barolo from Ratti!

  • 97, 95 Point Scores!
  • "Its is nuanced and delicate"
  • "The palate is elegant and almost dances across the mouth"
  • Limited!!

As of more than 50 years, the name Ratti is indissolubly tied to Barolo. Today, the Ratti Cellar at La Morra produces the classical wines of the Langhe district, in full respect of the philosophy established by the founder, Renato Ratti.

The Serradenari comes from their Cascina Sorello estate covers an area of approx. 4.5 Hectares with South/South-West exposure and vines varying in age between 20 and 40 years, on the typical land formation of La Morra. The optimal exposure to the sun and the greater altitude allow, in light of the climactic changes underway, for later grape harvesting compared to the vines of Annunziata. The wine has a greater “edge” than their other Barolos, while nonetheless maintaining the characteristics and typical traits of La Morra.

Winemaker Notes

Garnet red color. Fragrance with notes of plums, violet and tobacco. Full flavored with good tannin levels and acidity. A great wine for important dishes, red meats roasted on a spit or grilled, game, dishes of gourmet white and red meats and ripe cheeses.

Wine Enthusiast scored this 97 points saying, "This wine expresses itself with aromas of wild cherries, tart red plums, dried violets and oolong tea leaves. The palate is elegant and almost dances across the mouth, leading with ripe red fruits that give way to savory flavors of fresh bay leaf, clove and balsam. Drink 2025–2040."

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate gave this 95 points saying, "Here's an exciting new submission from the house of Ratti. Serradenari is a large MGA and one of only a few cru sites that exist on the western slope under the village of La Morra. The 2019 Barolo Serradenari has a more botanical-smelling bouquet, and by that I mean that it has lavender bud, thyme, aniseed and the kinds of flowers and herbs that you might find in a fragrant garden. It is nuanced and delicate and framed by a light note of ash or crushed limestone. It finishes quite firm or edgy. Only 6,000 bottles were made."
