Robert Eden Collection 2018 Red Blend, Organic, France

Robert Eden, co-owner and winemaker of Château Maris, is recognized worldwide for his commitment to sustainable and organic agriculture paired with his talent to craft lively and deeply nuanced wines. His wines regularly receive exceptional ratings. The Robert Eden Collection wines are his latest project. Made with grapes hailing from the Languedoc, in South of France where the year-round sunshine and high winds provide a dry environment, naturally keeping away pest and diseases without the use of added chemicals. These are perfect conditions for organic agriculture and ripe, beautifully balanced grapes.

This Red Blend is essentially a GSM­; Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre blend.  The grapes are de-stemmed then fermented in concrete or stainless steel tanks under temperature controlled conditions. No sulphur is added before or during this process. Ageing is in large wooden tanks for part of the blend. The wine undergoes a light filtration before bottling and again, no sulphur is added at bottling.

Beverage Testing Institute (tastings.com) scored this 90 points saying "Dark violet color. Aromas of ripe blackberries and raspberries, milk chocolate, roasted almonds, bouquet garni, and suede with a satiny, vibrant, dry-yet-fruity medium-to-full body and a smooth, interesting, medium-long clay and forest fruits finish with well-integrated, firm tannins and moderate oak flavor. Rich fruit and lipsmacking notes of cocoa make this a no-brainier when selecting a wine that will appeal to a wide variety of palates." A tremendous value and an ideal everyday selection!
