Rocca Giovanni’s winery consists of 22 hectares of vineyards located in the municipality of Monforte d'Alba Piedmont, a small village which is part of the eleven communes of Barolo of ancient origin which owes its fame to its beauty as well as its great wines. For three generations, the Rocca family has cultivated their estate with care, passion and authenticity.

Over the years the family transitioned from grape growers to producers. The patriarch Giovanni manages the winery with his wife Caterina and the help of oenologist Piero Ballario. Joined by their daughter Federica and son Maurizio the winery now produces about 80,000 bottles a year. Thanks to the vineyard position (south-east), the successful exposure of the vineyards and the favorable microclimate of the Langhe; each harvest allows the winery to produce consistently excellent results.

Barolo Ravera is the expression of one of the most important Cru in Monforte, a guarantee of fine aromas, sapid flavor, and great complexity. The mainly calcareous soil of this historical vineyard adds elegance and structure to the wine, making it ideal for aging. Manual harvesting, destemming, soft pressing and skin maceration for 10 days under controlled temperature. Refined in barriques (French oak) for 12 months and then in Slovenian oak barrels for 18 months followed by 6-8 months in bottle.

Winemaker Notes
A classic expression of the Piedmont’s noble Nebbiolo grape. It is fragrant, medium-bodied, garnet colored, and full of cherry and raspberry flavors. It shows complex layers of cinnamon and field herbs, that lead to a long and harmonious finish.

Wine Spectator 92 Points
Richly flavored with cherry, strawberry and accents of licorice and tea, this red is fluid and nicely complemented by refined tannins. There is a delicacy and gracefulness about this wine. Fine length.'

James Suckling 92 Points
'Dusted plums, cranberries, bark, dried herbs and rust on the nose. Sinewy and tight on the palate with a typical Barolo structure that will need time to resolve. Juicy, spiced cherries and oranges in the finish.'
