The
historic and esteemed dessert wine, Tokaji Aszu over the centuries has
satisfied the sweet tooths of Tsars, Emperors and Kings. Royal Tokaji
was inspired and founded in 1990 by Hugh Johnson, the noted author and
wine historian, whose goal was to revive and bring back to international
acclaim the wines of one of history’s most renowned wine regions.
Acknowledged as one of the region's top winemakers, combining
traditional techniques with modern technology to create an award-winning
range of wines.
For this wine excellent quality Aszú berries (botrytis affected Furmint and Harslevelu varieties), with nice structure and perfect botrytis, were soaked in fermenting must and macerated together for two days. After pressing and fermenting the wine to the perfect balance, it was transferred to barrels for two year barrel maturation in 300 and 500 liters second and third use oak.

Enthusiast Magazine scored this 96 points saying "Straw colored with
gold reflections, this delightful sweet wine has aromas of dried pear,
fresh apricot and yellow peach. Flavors of fresh Bartlett pear, acacia
honey and tinned apricots unfold on the palate. The finish is sweet,
with just the right amount of acidity."
