About S.A. Prum 2020 Riesling, Essence, Mosel

The Prüm family's roots in the Mosel region of Germany date back as far as 1156, making it one of the country's preeminent winemaking dynasties. Family-owned S.A. Prüm, founded in 1911 by Sebastian Alois Prüm, was in the hands of Raimund Prüm, head winemaker and Sebastian's grandson, from 1971 to 2017. Under Raimund's leadership, the property has earned a reputation as one of the most successful wineries in Germany's celebrated Mosel wine region. Today his daughter Saskia A. Prüm is taking care of the success of the family business.

For this wine, a selection of Riesling grapes from some of the top vineyard sites in Germany's Mosel region, grown only on steep hills is made. Grapes are hand-harvested in mid-October and undergo a gentle crush. The juice is fermented with cultured yeasts for several weeks in stainless steel tanks.

Wine Spectator designated this a "Best Value" and scored it 91 points saying "Though dry, this harmonious white has a plump feel and ample fruit to wrap around the acidic spine, offering a mix of peach, apricot, lime and slate flavors. Drink now."
