Situated in the splendid area of Northern Montalcino close to Biondi Santi's Il Greppo and La Serena, the wines of San Filippo are ageworthy and elegant, though very approachable in their youth. The estate has just 26 acres under vine. Founded in 1972 the estate was recently purchased by Roberto Giannelli who restored and renovated the entire facility. Roberto is producing this Brunello from their best single vineyard. It's aged in Slavonian and Allier oak casks.
2018 was an outstanding vintage for Brunello and James Suckling scored this 94 points saying "Intense, spicy and flavorful with aromas of currants, sage, dried orange, spearmint and bark. It’s full-bodied with sleek and well-integrated tannins. Subtle herbal touch lending freshness. Lots of character."
