About San Polo 2019 Rubio, Toscana IGT
San Polo is situated in Podernovi, on the southern slope of Montalcino. The valley is called Sant’ Antimo very close to Mount Amiata. San Polo’s modern and innovative winemaking is cutting-edge technology and the year 2007 marked the beginning of a new era for San Polo. An eco-friendly approach was developed, leading to a steadfast commitment to sustainability, which is now the hallmark of the Estate.
Rubio is 100% Sagiovese made in a modern forward style. Grapes are all hand harvested form thier vineyards with vines averaging 20 years of age. Fermentation and aging is all done in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks. 10 months aging in tank and 4 months in the bottle.
This was awarded a gold medal and 95 points in the Decanter World Wine Awards. They said "Spicy and perfumed nose with plenty of cherry, tomato and even strawberry. Some well-judged oak adds a backdrop of layered spice on the palate."
