Santi traces its origins to 1843. Carlo Santi established the original winery in the heart of the most acclaimed wine growing zone in the Veneto near Lake Garda. The Santi Amarone is sourced from estate vineyards spread across multiple terroirs of the Valpolicella region. A blend of 80% Corvina and 20% Rondinella, the ripest grapes on the grape clusters are harvested in late October. Immediately following harvest the clusters are dried under shelter in flat wooden crates until late January of the following year. The drying process is the essence of Amarone. It greatly increases the natural sugar content and concentrates the grapes which then produce a powerful wine with myriad flavors. The wine is then aged up to three years in Allier and Slovenian oak casks prior to bottling.
Dark red hue; concentrated, fragrant nose with top notes of cherry jam and cranberries, followed by hints of plum, dried fruit and cocoa. On the palate it is full, round, with velvety tannins, pleasantly tangy with a long finish, with notes of red berries and an alluring full flavor.
