#19 Wine Enthusiast Top 100 Cellar Selection for 2017! Sassicaia is the original Maremma Super Tuscan. It has spurred many followers but few rivals. Every vintage of this iconic wine garners lavish praise and big scores. This 2013 is a blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Cabernet Franc that was aged in French oak barriques (40% new) for 24 months, then refined for 6 months in bottle before release. Wine Enthusiast Magazine crowned this #19 on their Top 100 Cellar Selections for 2017 and scored it 95 points saying "Aromas of red berry, blue flower, menthol, exotic spice and a whiff of French oak take shape on this impeccably balanced radiant red. The palate is vibrant and focused—almost ethereal—delivering raspberry compote, Marasca cherry, star anise and cinnamon framed in elegant tannins. Weightless and loaded with finesse, it's an incredible result for what was a cool wet vintage in most of Italy."
