Producing great Zin is what Seghesio is all about. The winery was founded in the late 1800's and the Home Ranch was first planted in 1895. Now these ancient, head-pruned vines offer very low yields of intensely flavored grapes. Fermented in temperature controlled tanks over 8-12 days and lots fermented separately. 9% Petite Sirah which also grows there is blended in. The wine aged 14 months in 75% French oak and 25% American oak; 20% new barrels. Wine Spectator scored this 94 points saying "Gushes with rich and powerful fruit, offering aromas of wild berry, nutmeg and cinnamon, and complex flavors of cherry pie, white pepper and licorice. A great package. Drink now through 2023."
