About Sparrow's Quarrel 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley
A Super Find! Like everything else these days, Napa Cabs keep getting pricier and pricier. So we could hardly contain our excitement when we stumbled upon this gem. Grapes come from a single vineyards in Napa Valley's top sub-AVA's like Yountville, Rutherford and Oakville resulting in a wine that expresses quintessential Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. These are small plots carefully tended by hand, steadily focused throughout the process. Each parcel was fermented separately in individual stainless steel tanks, with punch-downs performed during the process, allowing for maximum skin contact resulting in a deeper extraction of color and tannin, giving the wine a solid backbone and intense flavors.
After fermentation, the individual tanks are transferred into medium-toast French oak barrels and then blended after a complete analysis of each barrel.
This wine shows aromas of blackberry, boysenberry, and cranberry followed by layers of exotic spices, sandalwood, and cocoa. On the palate it's supple with silky tannins giving a vibrant mouthfeel. The flavors pervade with berries, cherry, chocolate and spices followed by a long finish.
