Richard Steltzner established his first Stags Leap District Vineyards in 1965 while concurrently engaging in vineyards management. Steltzner Vineyards' first commercial release was in 1977, and the Steltzner Family established their own modest facility in 1983, with a 3,000 case capacity in the Stags Leap District. This wine is their Napa Valley blend, sourced from vineyards throughout the Valley. It's 65% Merlot, 31% Cabernet Sauvignon and 4% Petit Verdot aged in French oak barrels. It shows beautiful deep color and aromas of currants and cherries. Silky on the palate with notes of espresso, cassis and cherry with toasted nuances on the finish. Obviously Napa Valley red from the inimitable 2013 vintage are something we're looking out for and this one at under $20 is real find. Grab it before it's gone. Very Limited!
