Feudo Arancio Stemmari is a Sicilian winery, growing grapes sustainably on 1,400 acres on the island's southern coast where growing conditions are ideal for Nero D'Avola, their most important grape. Considered the Prince of the enological re-birth of Sicily Nero D'Avola prefers clay-like terrain and high altitude. Also, Stemmari's vineyards are planted with an average density of 4500 plants per 2.4 acres to limit yields and improve grape quality. Destemming and alcoholic fermentation with the skins occurs for 6-8 days in temperature controlled conditions and the wine is aged for 6 months in French oak barrels. This 2014 was awarded Gold in the Berlin Wine Trophy Competition and in the 2016 Ultimate Wine Challenge this lively red received multiple accolades including a Great Value Award, a Tried & True Award for its consistent quality over the years and finally a 91 point score. They said "An inviting nose of sumptuous ripe plums and soft leather rises from the glass. The fruit notes carry over with a supple, juicy body that smacks of cherry compote, mulberry preserves, and mixed berry fruit leather. A gratifyingly smooth finish. Excellent, Highly Recommended."
