About Strala 2019 Pinot Noir, Sonoma Coast
A shared passion for wine and the wine country lifestyle brought Jason and Laura Ray together. A passion to share wine and the wine country lifestyle inspired them to create Strala Vineyards. A beautiful combination of fruit from select vineyard locations, attention-to-detail winemaking and the commitment to the highest quality wines is the result. The name Strala was chosen for this venture based on its inspirational definition... to shine brightly, emit rays and radiate light.
Jason had owned one of them most renowned vineyard management companies in Napa, and worked with some of the iconic winemakers in the region including Thomas Rivers Brown and Philippe Melka as well managing vineyards for pioneer Napa vintners including Warren Winiarski and Mike Grgich. Needless to say his experience in top quality vineyards shows in all of the wines that he now helps to create.
Speaking of Melka, he brought in one of his winemakers for this passion project Pinot, and it is evident when you discover the sheer opulence and complexity of this stunning wine. In fact, everything about this wine is stunning right down to the wax covered neck! With only 10 Barrels produced (250 Cases!), you know that every bit of his heart and soul went into this miniscule production, supremely balanced, Pinot.
The Pinot Noir grapes were harvested at night and hand sorted and gently de-stemmed (20% whole cluster) to small open-top fermenters where the fruit underwent a 7 day “cold soak” to extract maximum fruit character. Once fermentation started, gentle maceration techniques were employed to ensure proper extraction was reached. The wine was drained without pressing and aged in 40% new French oak barrels for 15 months.

aromas of cherry and plum with exotic tones of black tea and baking
spice. Beautifully layered, the palate seamlessly flows with a fresh core of ripe red fruits, fine-grained tannins and intriguing spice notes from the
whole cluster and oak influence.
