About Tabali 2021 Chardonnay Talinay, Limari Valley
Viña Tabalí has for years been a pioneer and one of the most iconic wineries in the Limarí Valley. Company president Nicolás Luksic is continuing in the footsteps of his father, Guillermo Luksic, who founded the winery in 2002, in ensuring that the places chosen for each variety have a singularity that is reflected in each wine. Nicolás explains, “what we are seeking is to produce high-quality wines that reveal their origin and transport the person tasting them to the soil and climate of Tabalí’s vineyards. That’s what my father always wanted to transmit.”
This 2021 was chosen as White Wine of the Year by the 2022 editions of the Descorchados Wine Guide, one of the most prestigious and comprehensive wine publications in South America. It was also named Best Chardonnay, Best Wine of the North of Chile, and Super Price White under 25 USD by the publication.
Vinous scored this 93 points saying "The 2021 Chardonnay Talinay from Limari was aged for 10 months in barrels from different forests. Greenish yellow in the glass. The nuanced nose presents herbs and green apple and hints of lime against an elegant backdrop of hazelnuts. Broad and terse on the palate, with a voluminous, creamy flow, it's enlivened by saline acidity before the lengthy finish."
Wine Enthusiast rated this 91 points saying "The grapes for this Chardonnay were sourced from a coastal-influenced wine region located seven miles from the Pacific ocean. It's a vibrant wine that has aromas of lemon zest, herbs and salt. Crisp acidity is the star and backs citrus-fruit, peach and herbaceous flavors."
