Located in the beautiful Campania region, Feudi Di San Gregorio is at the forefront of revitalizing this historic winemaking area. The first winery from Campania to achieve two stars from Gamberro Rosso for their 20 Tre Bicchieri awards, Feudi di San Gregorio has affirmed its place among the Italian wine-making elite. Taurasi is Campania's signature red wine, and is considered one of Italy's greatest wines. Made from 100% Aglianico grown in the volcanic soils that pervade this region, Feudi has access to some of the oldest Aglianico vines in the country. This 2011 aged 18 months in French oak barrels. Additional bottle age has allowed it to reach a harmonious balance. The Wine Advocate scored this 91 points saying "The 2011 Taurasi is a surprise hit that defies the stereotypes of the vintage. The 2011 summer was a very hot one with dry winds from Africa. But this wine from the heart of Taurasi shows a great sense of fullness and ripeness that is never heavy or flat. The wine appears elegant and well integrated with ripe fruit tones of blackberry and Morello cherry that are contrasted against oak spice, tar, crushed mineral and balsam herb. The mouthfeel is supple and rich. You can feel the heat of the year, but it adds positively to the overall softness of the wine." and Wine Enthusiast Magazine also scored it 91 saying "Dark berry, Asian spice and blue flower aromas slowly unfold on this structured red. The full-bodied, tightly wound palate offers up mature black cherry, blackberry, licorice, cinnamon and tobacco while youthfully assertive but refined tannins provide support. Drink 2018–2028."
