About Technique 2016 Proprietary Red, Sonoma Valley
Technique wines are some of favorite. For Technique, Trevor Sheehan pulls together superior grapes from prime vineyards and blends them with a deft hand. Such is the case for this latest Technique Proprietary Red. The grapes come from Sonoma Valley, also known as Valley of the Moon. This is warm sub-AVA of Sonoma that's well known for growing excellent Bordeaux and Rhone varietals.
This wine is a blend of 56% Merlot, 32 % Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Syrah and 5% Petit Verdot. The wine aged 8 months in 50% new oak. As usual for Technique the wine overdelivers. It offers inky almost opaque purple color, great depth of flavor with notes of red cherry, blackberry, dried currants and warm blueberries. Hints of vanilla and brown sugar from the new oak complement mix. The texture is mouthfilling, ripe and supple. This a full-bodied red that's ready to enjoy right now but will continue to develop over the next 2-4 years. And as always always with Technique, you won't believe the price. Grab it now before it's gone!
